9/4/2023 0 Comments Spotify organise your music![]() If a song I like doesn't fit the category of any of these playlists, I will create one for it, and eventually over time more songs will be put into it. And there's ONE rule I have for these playlists, a song CAN NOT be in 2 or more specific genre playlists, only ever ONE. I feel it keeps it clean while still letting me explore a bit.I'm super specific and systematic about this (kinda an organisation freak right here lmao)Īny song I discover through the various Spotify channels (discover weekly, release radar, playlists for you, the search bar etc) and that I LIKE, I will like it and it instantly, and thus my liked songs playlist acts as that 'all songs' kinda playlist, right now it's at 1,118.īut I ain't done with that song yet, next it will go into one of my pre-set specific genre / mood playlists. Tier 1 (new songs) > Tier 2 > Tier 3 (current favs) > liked songs. The rest gets filed away into a folder called “My library” (I come back to these from time to time).Ī very simple version of this would be to make tier systems: When it comes to Spotify playlists I have 10 current favourite playlists at the top of my list ready to go whenever. Sometimes a song gets stuck in my head and makes it’s way into my mix but gets annoying after a week, so it never gets liked and I never have to listen to it again. To me this adds a level system which forces me to listen to a song a few times before I like it. If a song makes its way into “My Mix” and I listen to it a lot ill like it which then saves it more permanently for me and I can come back to it when I want. Usually pulled from one of my discovery playlists or my liked songs. Then I have my main “My Mix” which is basically a collection of what I’m currently listening to. If I come across a song it goes into “New discoveries”, then once I listen to that playlist, if I still like it it goes into very general genre playlist (example: pop, rock, country discoveries). Please feel free to share your experience and give me your advice on this topic. ![]() ![]() So my genre playlists are bloated (for example uk indie rock playlist has over 6k songs in it, and I swear to God, i have never heard more than half of it), and I really don’t know how to rearrange it all. And I try to get myself new music every week, picking newly added songs in Spotify playlists and adding it to my own ones, sometimes even without fully listening to it. Now I have playlists for genre umbrellas, but this is not that convenient too as any time you want to add a new song to your playlists you’re trying to figure out is it “pop” or “indie” or “experimental” or whatever. ![]() Then I had it by moods, but I came to conclusion that I have only two moods - mood to listen to music or not to. At first I had playlists for every letter of the alphabet for the artist name, but that is not that useful. I’ve tried different approaches for that. But as we all know, on Spotify you should have lots of playlist to systematise your own library. The thing is that in AM I just added all the songs I wanted to have somewhere around in my library, and that basically it. Previously I was using that app with rotten fruit as its logo, you know. So I’ve been using Spotify for a year and a half since it had been introduced in my country. ![]()
